Harpers Ferry for the night. Picked up 1st mail drop. Excited to take off tomorrow! Have decided not to bring the phone though, so will update online at the next stop.

Reckless Commentary:
Awe - it is wasn't he doesn't mention that is more interesting. The last night before the train, Dave bought his first hacksaw. Yes, gear is expensive, but wear an tear on the joints over a 100mile hiking week is more so. Hence, the weight "hacking" started with much plastic coming off here and there including the shortening of the fork and spoon length for a few grams. Last I talked to him, the knife came out between train stops and further hacking of straps and unnecessary bits and pieces commenced with the goal of droppings some LBs off the back. If you ever want to know how to do a lightweight backpacking adventure, talk to Dave in a month.
Gotta admire a man after his goal. Kind of makes me look at all of the crap I surround myself with and think of the simplicity of a life without it.
