Aaalrighty then!

Amtrak ticket purchased!

I depart Portland the afternoon of Monday the 19th of
September. If the trains stick to their schedules, I
arrive in Harper's Ferry, WV, late in the morning of
Thursday the 22nd.

Right now, I can possibly see me doing a few things in
town that day... 1) stop by the ATC to register my
hike, 2) hit the PO if I plan on picking up my first
maildrop there, and/or 3) hit the local outfitter for
anything I realize I've forgotten... perhaps 4) hit
the grocery store to supplement mail drop with fresh
foods... oh yeah 5) eat a good hearty lunch!!! ;)
and of course 6) call home to check in.

The good thing is Harper's Ferry looks to be a fairly
small town and I've downloaded a map so I know where
everything (including trail) is right off the bat.

But given a long train ride and the possibility of all
that I think I might end up doing, I'm going to plan
on spending the night in town, or at a campground near
town/trail..

SOOoooo, my trail planning begins with a start from
