Nice spot after a short day

May 30

JJ made us banana pancakes for breakfast - soooo good! Then after a couple last second errands, saying our goodbyes and once again expressing our gratitude for a really great stay, we were off again.

An easy gradual ascent through the beautiful wooded area around Idyllwild for most of the day. Blisters seem to have heeled for the most part - no apparent problems developing. Glad to have the new socks.

Enjoyed watching a couple of woodpeckers searching for food in the trees and then flying back to their hole in the snag I happened to stop for a break under. Guessing they were feeding their young.

Made decent time but given the later start and the amount of daylight left to attempt the worrisome traverse of Fuller Ridge, Rory and I decided to call it early in favor of camping near the great water source, allowing us convenient water to cook with (instead of having to carry all our water to a dry campsite) and giving us plenty of time for the probably sketchy snow-covered ridge in the morning. Enjoyed cooking/eating with a great view to the west which also provided for a beautiful sunset.

Nice easy day...
