Chuggin along

Waitin on a good-lookin breakfast here at the Red Moose Inn here in Sierra City. And here it is!!

Called the "stacker", it's biscuits and gravy, topped with hash browns and then eggs on top with bacon on the side. Oh this is so goin down! :)

This place is run by a couple of great trail angels who offer free shower, free laundry and free camping in their back yard. Then there's the very good, pretty much AYCE, rib dinner they do for hikers for $11!

We'll be headin back out shortly on the next 6-ish day stretch to Drakesbad/Chester. Skipping Belden and carrying more food in an effort to make up some time. We'll probably be hiking 25+ miles a day :P

We'll be passin the halfway point in this stretch!

Shoes are beginning to fall apart so I did a quick repair job using some shoe goo the local general/food store thankfully let me use. Praying that they'll get me to Mt. Shasta where there might be an outfitter, that or possibly get some already broken in trail runners I have at home shipped to me which could maybe get me to Bend, OR, where there's an REI.

Well we've gotten through the High Sierra and most of the snow but I'm beginning to think we may have patches of snow as well as mosquitoes the rest of the way. Definitely getting a little warmer with the loss of elevation and the views are still great but they don't compare to what we've seen.

Well off we go - hopefully no serious run-in's with poison oak and rattlers which we need to be on the look-out for again.

Hey Dave! I was recently at Crater Lake and we made a stop at the Mazama store. I noticed the PCT message board outside and scribbled you a note, which I'm sure will be gone by the time you get there. I'd have done better by you had I realized ahead of time it was a stop on the PCT.
